Highlights:
Machu Picchu…no archaeological site in the Americas holds as much mystery as the most famous of Inca ruins. Our trek to this legendary fortress follows the road less traveled, a different “Inca Trail” winding deep into the heart of the Peruvian Andes. Glaciated peaks, high mountain passes and deep river gorges punctuate our 5-6 day trek along the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu.
We’ll start in Cusco with several days touring this charming city and its stunning architecture, visiting local ruins and the Sacred Valley of the Incas while we acclimate to the high altitude. We then begin our four day mule supported trek, staying each night in luxury mountain lodges along the trail. We’ll cross Salkantay pass at 14,800 ft. before descending into lush cloud forests and river valleys teeming with orchids. Our trek concludes in Aguas Calientes, from which we’ll have a full day to explore Machu Picchu.
