Situated at the confluence of the Salmon River and the Little Salmon River, Riggins is recognized as Idaho's "Whitewater Capital". Riggins, with a population of about 450 people, features several restaurants and bars and offers accommodations at 8-10 different locations. The town also has a grocery store, two gas stations, and a tackle shop where you can purchase fishing licenses and find out which flies the trout are hitting.
A few miles upstream in Pollock, Idaho, the Little Salmon Lodge is nestled along the banks of the Little Salmon River. The lodge serves as our headquarters and features 12 guest rooms, a beer & wine bar, gift shop and riverside hot tub.
Within an hour of our site, there is access to nearly every outdoor activity imaginable, including fishing, rafting, kayaking, climbing, backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking, cross country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. There are numerous hot springs, both commercial and wilderness, throughout the area. Also within an hour of our lodge are two larger towns: Grangeville to the north on Highway 95 and McCall to the south on Highway 55. McCall features a beautiful mountain lake where you can go boating or waterskiing and several ski resorts where you can carve turns in the winter months.
