River Guides - Now hiring 1st year and experienced guides!
We are in the process of hiring experienced and first year guides for our 2008 season. If you are interested in applying for our guide school, please forward your resume and three references to larry@voyageurs.com along with an e-mail describing yourself and your interest in guiding for us.
Northwest Voyageurs is a high-quality adventure company that caters to business professionals and family. We have an absolutely exceptional staff - one of the best anywhere. We have the luxury of being able to hand-pick the best guides in the industry and invite you to apply to come work for one of the most exciting and fastest growing adventure companies in the US. In addition to operating multi-day rafting trips, we also offer multi-sport adventures, hiking, biking, fishing, and overseas adventures in Baja, Tanzania, Costa Rica, and the Galapagos. Finally, we own a guest lodge in Idaho where most of our clients stay during their adventure with us.
2008 Guide Training
The dates for our 2008 Guide Training will be May 18 - 24, 2008. Training consists of 7 days on the Salmon River, Riggins stretch in typically high water conditions. For 5 days, we run the entire 40 miles stretch in one day. For 2 days we run the stretch as an overnight trip, allowing for the opportunity to see first-hand what a night in camp is like with Northwest Voyageurs. The cost of the program is to be determined. The training/licensing program cost covers for instructors, transportation, equipment, and food for the overnight trip. We do not profit from this program.
Each applicant is required to provide their own life jacket, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and tent- both for training and if hired by Northwest Voyageurs. We can provide wet suits, helmets if necessary, and any other equipment needed during training.
To be considered for employment as a guide, our guide training program is required for anyone who is not already a licensed river guide in Idaho and/or for anyone with less than 3 years professional river guiding experience. Space is limited in our guide course, therefore if you wish to apply, we recommend you do so early. Once your application is accepted, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your space in the course. The remainder will be due May 1st.
Participating in our guide training course should not be construed as an offer or guarantee of employment. However, anyone completing this training course will be able to apply to the state of Idaho for a guide's license and will be eligible to guide for any of the other numerous guide companies in our area.
International Applicants
We are able to hire applicants who are authorized to work in the United States, however we cannot provide offer letters or commitment letters prior to training. If you are an international applicant with more than 3 years of guide experience, please contact me directly for more information on employment opportunities.
If you have any other specific questions regarding our training program, please feel free to contact me directly or via email at larry@voyageurs.com
Thanks again for your interest in working for Northwest Voyageurs!
Sincerely,
Larry Fisher, Operations Manager
