WISCONSIN ALUMNI SALMON RIVER WHITEWATER ADVENTURE

Itinerary:

Day 1: Please arrive to the Boise Airport by 4 p.m. Transportation is provided to the Little Salmon Lodge in Pollock, ID (3 hours). After a welcome reception and pre-trip orientation, we enjoy dinner and relaxing at our beautiful riverside Little Salmon Lodge.

Day 2: Following breakfast we will head to the launch site of our river trip for a thorough safety orientation before beginning our five day, four night whitewater journey. We will relax, have lunch on the river and for those who are interested, learn how to paddle our inflatable kayaks. Paddle opportunities are also available in the rafts for those who want to participate, or just sit back and let us do all the work! Our guides share colorful stories of the history of the canyon and its inhabitants. Several times during our journey, we will have opportunities to stop and visit ancient Indian pictograph sites and abandoned pioneer homesteads.

We typically arrive in camp in the late afternoon. Our Salmon River camps are huge white sand beaches with beautiful swimming holes. Our camp crew has already set up camp and done all the work, so there is plenty of time to hike, fish, play bocce ball, or just relax. Sweet aromas of fresh desserts and breads baking in Dutch ovens will lure you back to the kitchen for dinner. After dinner, we continue to unwind and begin to enter into the flow of our trip - something we call “River Time.” The night ends with warm companionship and a sky full of brilliant stars.

Days 3-6: After a full breakfast in camp, each day will follow the same general pattern as Day 2. On Day 6, after reaching the confluence of the Snake and Salmon Rivers, our journey concludes on the Snake River in Hells Canyon. In the early afternoon, we reach our take-out and quickly depart back to the Little Salmon Lodge. Here, we will enjoy a celebration dinner and final night’s stay on the banks of the Little Salmon River. The lodge features a hot tub, beer and wine bar and a wonderful ambience.

Day 7: After breakfast at the lodge, we head back to Boise. If you plan to fly out on this day, please schedule your flight after 1:00 p.m.
