Sturgeon fishing on the Snake & Salmon Rivers is catch and release only. Since the introduction of 8 dams on the Snake & Columbia rivers, sturgeon on our sections of the Snake & Salmon Rivers are blocked from reaching the estuaries at the Pacific Ocean which historically was rich feeding and breeding grounds. Fish & Game protects sturgeon on our rivers so that the population can continue to maintain its current levels.
