The answer depends on the activities you choose, the value of your camera, and your willingness to accept a small amount of risk. If you have a very expensive camera, and are joining us for white water rafting, we recommend purchasing a pelican case or other high-end waterproof camera case. If you do not purchase a very good waterproof case or have a waterproof camera, it is our opinion that it is not worth the risk to bring a very expensive camera.

If you have a moderately priced camera or digital camera, you can either purchase a waterproof case or use care to keep the camera stored in a zip lock bag and a dry bag during the rapids. While our dry bags provide 99% waterproof protection, it is possible that the dry bag could fail in the unlikely event of a boat flipping or the bag ripping. We do not accept the risk of any cameras or other belongings that are stored in our dry bags. That being said, the risk is quite small and our guides typically bring moderately priced digital camera on trips without incident.

For taking pictures during rapids, we recommend a waterproof camera only. Disposable waterproof cameras are available for sale at the Little Salmon Lodge
